Hi, HarshJ; just an update; someone told me that the degraded pictures is due to my video card needing to be replaced/upgraded, so I guess I was looking in the wrong places after all. Still using your list and getting great results! Thanks again! Kitty

Hello Friends! There is nothing as such speed. I am using Windows XP SP2.
Below is the hardware configuration which I upgraded thinking that I will get a good speed from my computer but all went to dustbin.

INTEL PENTIUM D PROCESSOR
2 G.B. DDR2 RAM (553Mhz, 677Mhz)
160 G.B SATA 2 HDD 7’200 r.p.m. 8MB CACHE
ASROCK Conroe 945G DVI Motherboard
10 USB Ports

There are some software which one can use but it can hardly help out.
RAM Saver Pro.

hi..may i know how much %age of services should be auto on? Cos i have 2/3 of my services in Started mode(as in status)..is that right? and i have some other services going on which is not stated here. is there any good site for the remaining services?

Thanks a lot Harsh J. Made the changes for my Lappy. I also done it for my home desktop (which i dont use, the rest of my family do) and i have to say it made no difference to it. Is there any other ways i can speed up my desktop? Aside from the obvious Disk Cleanup/ Defragmentation / Adjust for best performance / remove unwanted programs method?

I speed it up little bits here and there with various guides like yours, but nothing helps greatly.

Hey sorry Kitty, but am unable to make out what may be causing this issue. But what ever it is, its a network feature obviously, so if you got some time to spare, you can hit and try each one of those.

But none of the services have anything to do with the internet really, this problem is quite weird to me! Perhaps wait for some support from other visitors of this page. I’ll try the forums to find out what I can, about this.

Hi, I checked back but still no answer. Do you think I should undo my changes? I hate to have it slowed down again, but can’t isolate which change did it. Banner and links and pictures are blurry and fragmented. Any ideas on which change to fix? Thanks so much. Kitty

Followed your great list with care, and happily my speed is now unbelieveable! I was taking a minute (!) to go forward one page, and now it is two seconds!!! Very very happy! My only question is now the images on my web pages are degraded. Which choice should I unset to correct this? I haven’t changed any other paramenters but the ones on the list. Thanks so much for the help with the speed; it has made such a difference! Kitty
