If there is a dark secret about me, its my passion for science fiction. I absolutely adore it and I don’t stand anyone going against a well defined science fiction scenario.
Ok, now about this post…

Heroes is a new TV series that started recently as some of you might know. To just get to know about it, there is always the Wikipedia to the rescue.
Anyways, its first arc of the first season completed and I got to say this – It’s awesome. I know some people who hate that word, including me sometimes cause its so hyped up, but there is no better word to say for it at the time!
Heroes, based mainly on comic books like X-Men and others of the Evolutionary kind, is about a group of people who, while living their difficult lives, realize that they have abilities beyond other humans. The main characters are:
- Hiro Nakamura – An Asian kiddo who can bend the space and time. The powers he possess are normal and have been heard of before but the way he uses them forms the good part here.
- Claire Bennet – A cheerleader who can regenerate her body quick, like what Wolverine does, sans the claws. Pretty ordinary powers if you ask me.
- Issac Mendez – A guy who can paint the future. Now this is nice, there have been persons who ‘see’ the future, but not one who can project or paint it really!
- Matt Parkman – Police cop who can read people’s thoughts. Interesting but already heard-of ability.
- Niki Sanders – A woman who sort-of suffers from multiple-person syndrome, except that the other person in her ‘Jessica’ exhibits super human strength. Again a good think, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde I guess.
- Nathan Petrelli – A congressman who can fly. Wow, nice conflict of abilities and work, whoever thought of a flying politician?! Plus, I guess he’s one of the few heroes who fly and have no other additional powers like Superman’s strength etc.
- Peter Petrelli – Brother of Nathan (younger), this guy has the powers of mimicry of other’s super-human powers when he in their vicinity. His powers might seem a little boring but he also exhibits some kind of future-dreaming or present-dreaming abilities of his own, and yeah, he’s sort of the main guy in the series.
- Mohinder Suresh – A person from Chennai, India. He comes to New York to find the reason behind his father’s (Chandra Suresh) murder. Apparently, his father had devoted his life trying to find the people who have evolved to prove his theory right about human’s extraordinary evolution. He doesn’t have any shown powers but the narration of evolution’s topics he gives in the series is very good!
The series, till now, tells us about how these people meet up with each other thanks to what they call fate and the future. Also, the Issac person paints a picture of New York exploding like an atomic bomb hit it, and Hiro accidentally teleports to the future New York to watch it happen really too! So this sort-of forms the main plot behind the series’s stories, with a dash of Super-Villains and other mysterious mysteries and heroes thrown in as a good blend.
Also, as a similarity to another popular TV series called Lost, in which the numbers ’4 8 15 16 23 42′ appear often, this series has a symbol that has something to do with the evolved. Its:

My favorite character among the most common heroes shown is the Peter guy, he really can be powerful to beat any other hero if he knows what the opponent’s power actually is. That’s cause he can mimic them and match you as an equal, neat!
As for the dark side, the main person shown is someone called ‘Sylar‘ who kills these people with ‘abilities’ and when it is revealed why and what his actually power is, its something I’ve not heard about. Sylar can actually figure how things work. Anything. So he sees a hero flying, then he understands how through the functioning of the person’s brain and thus he is depicted as a person who kills people, steals their brains. He steals brains of the evolved and he alters his DNA so that he acquires the powers of them. If you ask me, this guy has a lot in common with Voldemort in the Harry Potter 7-Book series. The history he tells about himself shows that he detests his past much like Voldemort did, very closely based on him.
You can look here to see when it airs in your country or see here if you got nice bandwidth to burn.
The season’s scheduled to continue and complete from January 22nd and I am dying to watch it finish, it is really nice to look at the comic way of life and depression (lol) in drama. Maybe I missed TV more than I think I did all these years!
Enough said, get Heroes now!
so our “Peter Parker” got another show to watch & added 1 more in my long list of not able to watch shows.

Yup. Its a great show. And again thanks to soura for getting me started on it. Soura and nemi were discussing about how funny Hiro was in the conf. I started watching after 2 episodes were aired.
Masi Oka as Hiro is just too good.
Heroes is coming to India ( Star World) in 2007.
