Memoirs of a QWERTY Keyboard

Apple released its much awaited iPhone yesterday! And now people are calling each other on their ugly Ericsons and Nokias yelling ‘iPhone!’ and the receiver getting confused up, yelling back ‘YouPhoneWho?’

On with the post, iPhone looks like this:

The apple's new worm on the block - the iPhone!

Looks a neat piece of product totally!

Here are its features:

  • Can make calls [In much excitement, people tend to forget the most basic use of these products called 'Phones'.]
  • Carries your music, acts as an iPod too. [Expected, ever since Apple Computers Inc. changed to Apple Inc.]
  • Has a 5 hour capable battery and a 19 hour capable audio player in it. [Of course, these burn and after your lap, its the ear's turn to burn now.]
  • Can SMS, do anything like any smartphone today does. [Except looking like one]
  • Has Safari for a browser and has tabs in it [Opera Mini/Mobile has them too!]
  • Runs on a Mac OSX! [Oh my god, this rockz0rz.]
  • Has integrated Google Maps [To show you all apple stores nearby.]
  • Has Widgets [Lovely things, spoiling my eyes and crowding my screen.]
  • Has a camera, a 2 mega pixel camera [*Click* Ah, just a 2 MP cam, BAH!]
  • Has no keypad, just a soft button, rest all is gesture controlled by performing the required action on the screen you can get the job done. [What about the nails on people's hands?]
  • Is like a mini-OS, can multi-task [Even a Symbian can do that one, and any good phone out there today too.]
  • And more more more [Except that its coming out July 2007 in the U.S.o.A and is gonna cost like 500 and 600 USD for 4 and 8 GB versions.]

But the best ever thing about it is this:

Tilt it this way, and wait:

Tilt it this way and wait...

You get this automatically!:

And it becomes like this!

Now this is what is really innovative in the entire black casing of it, Autorotation using a sensor. Hope it isn’t buggy though.

Not a bad buy but ain’t it still a lot costly even by being the slimmest ever smartphone on Earth today? Guess yes but then, Apples are from Mars, and its users from Venus.

Oh and just realized, its only for Cingular mobile customers… fsck.

Apple updates: New worms now enter Apple! :P

Cisco Systems sued Apple Inc. in federal court Wednesday, saying the computer maker’s new iPhone violates its trademark.

  4. “Only for Cingular mobile customers” – What the fuck is this?

I thought of buying this phone after 4-5 months of it’s release.

  5. Ashwin – Horribly yes, for now they’re just targeting U.S. customers and only Cingular users in that too. Maybe they’ll open up later. Cingular always seems to get the best always, even the Sidekicks I and II. Damn. :( Also, it doesn’t have a replaceable battery if reports are true.

  8. Why i would not want one iPhone…

a.If I put my iPhone & my keys in the same pocket, the iPhone will design it self with those irratating scratches.

b.A stupid iTunes update could crash my cell phone

c.iPhone accessories will be *ucki** costly

    d. It doesnt have expandable memory

    c. I dont have “THE fuckin” 500 dollars…

    e. It wont be as smart as a PDA.

  11. But it’s soooo expensive. I think that’s what’s killing people about it, is its price.

  12. PS. People are saying it doesn’t run on that 3G software, so it’s gonna be slow. But in the future, they’ll have “iPhone 20th Generation” type thing… OMG I hate that generation stuff.

  13. Yeah it doesn’t have 3G indeed. Maybe they thought adding Wi-Fi was a better idea but it isn’t. P.s. Check the update in the post for more fun :P

  15. OMG!!

But wait, it does’nt have OS X … and you know what ? There were rumours that Apple were looking for a mobile manufacturer … I think we know who it is :P .

  16. Not coming to Asia before 2008. And look at the cost man! I hope they are considering some iPhone Shuffle too :)

I’m sure it’s gonna churn up the mac sales even more. They say half of the mac sales last year were made to first-time customers, mostly converts from windows. GUI is generally a matter of habit, so I think iPhone will do a good job making people comfortable with OS X UI, and then they can switch :)

  17. So I am not in to Apple, macs any & i*s really, only have a 2nd generation iPod.

Cingular is AT&T mobile network so it is nit open for all networks here in the US.

But I went down to the Macworld exhibition yesterday, free exhibition ticket otherwise I wouldn’t have bothered, and this is what I heard:

*You can’t install any 3rd party software on it
    *$600 per month AFTER discount
*Not clear if the touch screen will be any good for typing emails
*Poor battery life with high processing power and screen
*Apple is not good on first generation gadgets

But the presentation was so slick, lots of people standing around the phones and Mac people being hype over the phone.

Apple showed off the iTV something and the good thing it has no DRM issues.

  18. “$600 per month AFTER discount”
Really? I think you must have heard wrong. There are two models who cost $499 and $599 with a two year contract with Cingular. It can’t possibly cost $600 per month!

I think it looks delicious although I probably won’t be getting it until the 2nd or 3rd generation.

  19. The data plan with Cingular is costing $100 per month. Then of course is the talk minutes etc to be paid for.

This is what I have heard … I am not getting an iPhone.

  20. [...] Spooky enough… I wrote in this post about a hint of burning cell phone batteries (iPhone actually) but this what I heard late now, is far more critical and worse than just the ear though… VALLEJO, California (AP) — A cell phone apparently ignited in a man’s pocket and started a fire that burned his hotel room and caused severe burns over half his body, fire department officials said.
