I really never expected this to happen! But I don’t wish not to invite the ‘Click and Run Programs‘ this deal between the Canonical and Linspire has promised to both Linspire and Ubuntu|Kubuntu users.

From [Ubuntu Weekly News]
Linspire to be Based on Kubuntu, first Ubuntu-based distro to have Click and Run
Linspire announced that they will be switching to base their distribution off Ubuntu. With their polished KDE desktop this makes Linspire the latest in the impressive list of operating systems based off Kubuntu.
It was also announced that Linspire’s Click and Run install programme would be added to the Ubuntu archive, giving users of all Ubuntu distributions easy access to a large range of free and proprietry software.

Canonical signed the deal of integrating CNR (Click ‘N’ Run) to the Ubuntu archive a long ago (about 2-3 months).
But before that, I knew that this would happen some day. Linspire and it’s free version : Freespire lacked very much in the features that give a proper feel of Linux from the very beginning.
So, a scenario like this one was expected. Some bigger distribution had to take over their technology and that distro is Ubuntu.

I think that Windows Clones are losing their popularity because of ubuntu. this deal is to salvage some market, which linspire has already lost. freespire didnt work out well enough. i think linspire must remove it’s licensing for it to work among newbies. who would pay as much as windows to get windows like functionality???
