KDE4 - WTF :O

with 11 comments

Check out this preview of KDE4!

The only words gonna come out of my mouth for the next 20 minutes are “Holy CRAP! When am I expecting this?! Bye GNOME!”

Since it comes out in December, this has _got_ to be the best Christmas present ever.

And Amarok with that Cover Flow thing and totally revamped interface … This is too much for me right now. I need it, I need it running on my system ASAP!

  9. I have the KDE 4 beta installed in my openSuSE 10.3. I don’t remember the version of the beta, but it should be beta2 as beta3 wasn’t released at the time of openSuSE release. Nevertheless, when I first logged into KDE 4, the default settings & looks were too boring to bear it altogether. So I logged out immediately and have never logged back in since then. But after watching the wonderful screenshot tour you have posted, my interest in it is up again, really. :)

  10. I’ve used KDE since 2.0, and 4 is driving me nuts. Some of the enhancements are great, but the taskbar (a bit of a critical component?) is basically unusable.

Why is it that I can’t even find a way to add shortcuts to launch applications? It’s ridiculous.

  11. J squid - The shortcuts can be added via drag-and-drop from the Application menus, or from Dolphin (Apps and Folders too). It is bad that there is no context-menu option like ‘Add shortcut/link to app/folder’. But till it comes, just keep dragging and dropping things on it! :)
