Finally put in a new theme “The Journalist” by Lucian Marin after months of Blue-K2. This theme was recently featured on WordPress.com and is fantastic at its simplicity and minimalism!
I had to modify a bit of the CSS to help support the switch-over from the colorful Blue-K2 I had here earlier (The colors being those “Download” or “Favorite” boxes you’ve seen around, perhaps.)
Also converted a few images to Grayscale and added them for a little more eye gloss than the default theme had. Hope you like this theme, cause I find it pretty readable and wide.
Post any problems, comments on what you feel is not good and other things if you have the time.

I like the theme, nicely done and lots of white space.
I feel the sidebar font should be increased and should be equal to the contents font. Also where’s the RSS stuffs?

This there is simply well simple. I like the loading speed. Pretty neat too

@Ashwin – Thanks for the suggestion. Sidebar fixed it to 13 pixels. Appears pretty readable now, isn’t it?
@Beta3 – Thanks for the comment!

You use Imageshack for hosting?
If yes, they suck. Once your blog gets traffic, they’ll block out the image and replace with the ugly BW exceeded ones. I learnt this the hard way.

Yeah I do for posts that definitely never will gain heights of popularity. Imageshack does that if an image exceeds 100 MB bandwidth per hour.
So for posts like Linkin Park I had back then in March, I used to host them on my own and later when the traffic declined I shifted them back to Imageshack. Tedious huh? Works for me.

Why are all the coders going minimalistic ?

@Preshit – Growth of female coders ( Get it?

@Shankar Ganesh – Thank you! Lucian is indeed a brilliant designer to come up with this theme.

Wohoo! Ur Blog’s been Unblocked!!!
Quite a simple and nice theme. The one at WP.com had different fonts for the posts and comments. The Comments’ font was better (Post font was same as in Pressrow) hence I didn’t switch. Unsleepable still remains as the ‘cleanest’ theme out there

BTW, shouldn’t the post tag read “Posted in Blog by Harsh on the 26th of November, 2007″ instead of “the November 26th, 2007″ ??

@YCR – Unblocked?
Heh yeah I changed the fonts here, but its still not optimal. I got to do some more experimenting with them. And fixed the date thing, thank you.

Your Gravatar is set to the default image?
Dunno, the rating restriction is R, too, but yours isn’t showing up! But its definitely not the default image (The Pac-Man as you see here), its some odd problem not related to my site

Looks very nice. I’m using the same theme, although I don’t have your CSS skills
Care to share how you got that image in the title? (I’m using the WP.com version of the theme so I can’t modify the HTML.) Thanks!

@Lucian – Thanks for dropping a comment here! And I’d love to use the next version as well!
@Vivian – I don’t know of a css trick to do that yet. I edited the header.php file of the theme files to add it instead. Would comment here if I found a way to do it via CSS.

@Harsh – thanks for the answer. I’ll be checking back frequently
Your CSS code has already given me some ideas
@Lucian – can you make the size of the avatar/gravatar larger? While I have figured out how to change the size in CSS, all it does is stretch the picture (I’m assuming that is because the size is set somewhere in the HTML code – at 16×16 is what I see). Thanks!

There wasn’t Gravatar support in this theme by default actually.
Unfortunately, the sizes must be specified in the <?php gravatar(arguments); ?> function which WordPress.com might have embedded into the theme files?

Hmm – if WP added the gravatar/avatar support, then they also set the size. I’ll try to get them to make it bigger. Thanks for the pointer.

Harsh – figured I’d update you on what I found
I got WP.com to increase the size of the avatar/gravatar.
And I figured out how to get an image in the title. I used a background picture and set the location of it. (Right now, I’ve got a little Christmas thingee going on.)
