Jonny Quest Movie update

4 comments

I wrote a small post on this about two years ago. Things have started moving finally and SHH has posted another article related to the new Jonny Quest movie.

It’s roping in Zac Efron, of the High School Musical fame to be Jonny Quest. Also rumours go that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might also be joining in as Race Bannon, the pilot.

Read up on the whole article here. It also talks about Warner Bros. changing the name from Jonny Quest to something else just because they think it brings Speed Racer to people’s minds. It doesn’t to mine.

The Day The Earth Stood Still (2008)

Saw this movie at the theaters today. A very nice concept packed into a slightly-bad movie with a good star cast.

The moment of the movie when the Earth actually stands still, was the best part among all other. Honestly I got interested in this movie only cause it had Keanu Reeves in its star-list. And he was pretty good as the visiting extraterrestrial. It’s kinda weird to say that, since it was only his body in use.

The movie should have had one scene of an actual speech. The people should have known why they were being hit by those forces. Instead, it ends abruptly leaving no cliffhanger. The visitor and his assistance, all just go away. The original 1951 movie had a better plot, with more details on the violence and harm humans caused. This was pretty fine otherwise, including humor just when it begins to get boring.

P.s. So the universe does have the cyclops, I suspected so for long!

Life has not been so low as right now. No this isn’t some depression stuff. And I mean right _now_ as in right now. 28th Nov, near 2 AM in the morning.

I love the rains, yes I do. I don’t mind the water-logged roads either, I like walking in it. No matter how gloomy the weather, the falling droplets always make me cheerful. But no, this won’t last, not yet in my country. Just as I try to get some work done, my electricity starts to fluctuate, the EB would blame the rains if I blame them. Poof goes my router’s blinkenlights, and I have to reconnect and wonder if what was going on can be got back.

Not to mention what am trying to do seems so-much impossible on the thing am doing the what upon but the same what is, in fact, possible and that having been rubbed into your face by some powers that be, makes you literally go tearing your hair and screaming what the …

Weather on focus, my city’s been receiving lots of cyclone-induced rainfall. I’m thinking it rained enough to last a quarter of the oncoming summer period, if not half. Walked loads in the water today, some places almost upto thigh-deep water.

A little something on movies – Punisher – War Zone’s coming with Jigsaw in it (Dec 5), and these marketers are getting clever, releasing the original old Punisher with Jane and Travolta in it just a week before. Saw Quantum of Solace and it isn’t good, all action and deaths, or atleast most of it. Also saw The Dark Knight so many times that I started to like Batman Begins more.

Installed a new code-highlight plugin (The same awesome one as on WordPress.com blogs). Here’s a sample:

# In Python
class Foo(object):
    def __init__(self): pass
    @somedecorator
    def abc(ghi):
        print ("Spam and eggs")

More later as I get back to owning the lizard – the mighty, unconquerable openSuSE 11.0.

Just-for-record: 9 router disconnects in this post-typing period. Great voltage!

I know I rant a lot about my college, the studies that men do, and general stuff in that regard. But underneath all that hate I seem to spew around, I do actually love my course.

It does get tedious when some subject you have no real interest for gets in the way and you have to learn it no matter what but if seen clearly it does teach you something you never knew all your life. And am sure somewhere you would be able to apply the same, if not immediately, in your life.

I shouldn’t be speaking examples here cause cases are all relative to what people study but I’ll push on with it. I had no idea how or what JPEG compression worked or did until this semester. And when I did learn that and GIF, TIFF, MPEG and other stuff like it, I realized how important digital signals were and how much you can achieve by them. I had to remove the mental block that had grown out of my hatred towards any subject that considered a signal x(n) and derived seemingly useless equations out of it a.k.a Digital Signal Processing.

What I mean here is, once I got to know how large the application area of the subject I hated was, I felt shame I did that. But its not entirely my mentality at fault, its also the syllabus outline we have prescribed. The subjects hardly focus on the practical part of a paper, and by practical I do not mean laboratory or stuff like that, but real-world applications. At max all I see is a small 4-5 point block about “Used as”, “Used in” and etc. Never do they include an detailed explanation about at least one of the various interesting applications of the topic.

Not that it would make a difference to the majority who wish to graduate for work purposes alone but to those who actually have joined with an interest it would mean a lot.

Back to normal topics, (i.e. if you’re still reading this far), I’m loving this Gentoo Linux, it didn’t turn out to be hard as predicted at all. Of course I just did the stage3 install via the Handbook but I’ve compiled my own custom kernels and applications and it all seem so easy and nice to do. Well, so much for a normal topic huh?

Gonna watch Iron Man or Speed Racer within the week and both within the next. Just for summer’s sake of course. I really wish The Dark Knight released sooner, its too long the wait since Batman Begins to watch Bale take up the Wayne role again with his perfect straight face, heh.

Anyway, me off now for some stuff I must have done long ago. Got to catch up with the skilled world. :P
