Rush Hour 3 – 2007

Continuing my movie-watch-and-kill-holiday-time run, I saw the third part of Rush Hour today. Nothing’s changed in it. Chris’s still the reason I liked it, Jackie’s still the reason I enjoyed it. And as always, the credits are crazy too! 😛

Rush Hour 3 - 2007 - Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker

Though compared to Rush Hour 1 and Rush Hour 2, this one is a bad one. Jackie’s getting too old. He should be playing Pat Morita roles, as is rumored now. Chris Tucker, he should try Opera singing, he’ll rock the Operas. 😛

I’d rate it a 7/10. Medium entertainer, worth killing a lazy afternoon for it.

I wish the fights were more fun like the first part. :(

Die Hard – 1988

Saw the first part (Die Hard 1) today, and it was very good! Just enough action per frame to keep one going without scrolling the bar front. 😛

Die Hard (1991)

But funny thing about the movie is that there are some rather weird scenes and lines. Like for example that media thing. There wasn’t a need for showing that media guy’s rise to fame and that punch at the end, etc. Likewise, when the LAPD first attacks the building, the soldier running across the bushes makes a silly ouch as if some rose thorn pricked him. No connection to the movie whatsoever *shakes head*.

But Bruce Willis, he totally rules! This is the oldest movie of his I’ve seen so far. He hardly looks like his young self anymore! And the movie wasn’t bad at all for a 1991 one. It was realistic in its approach too, unlike most of these bollywood movies that still are. 😛

I’d rate it a 9/10.

Next up is of course, Die Hard 2 and Die Hard 3. And if I can get 4 later, perhaps that too. :)

Starship Troopers

Looks like no one remembers this awesome science fiction craze of 1990’s anymore?

Most of you would have seen the 1997 movie “Starship Troopers” which was quite a good movie of its time. There also was a sequel to it called “Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation“. I just caught up with these two movies again this month on DVD and it bought back the good old memories. Got to love guns, power suits and interstellar air-crafts just like the Halo series. 😉

Do any of you remember the “Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles” series which used to air on AXN around 2001 or so? It was a series representation of the Starship Troopers film adaptation and was fully CGI, way too good for its time! Just recently learnt that it had over 7 campaigns while only 3 were aired in India. So being how easy it is to acquire DVDs in 2007, I got them all, full 8 DVDs of all the campaigns in order:

  • The Pluto Campaign
  • The Hydora Campaign
  • The Tophet Campaign
  • The Tesca Campaign
  • The Zephyr Campaign
  • The Klendathu Campaign
  • The Trackers Episodes along with the Bonus clips, and finally,
  • The Homefront Campaign

It’s too bad the series ended in a cliff-hanger and the planned sequel was never produced since the company behind this masterpiece ran out of money and disappeared off the globe. :(

But anyways, you can wait for the third movie sequel “Starship Troopers: Marauders” coming up next year with an all new story.

You know what’s a Marauder if you’ve seen the Roughnecks series. 😉

The reason am not posting much these days (weeks? months?) is of course, due to my being busy. I usually never am so busy to neglect my own blog but this second year is pretty hectic. Keeping pace with it hardly gives me any spare time, and thanks to my early morning bus timings, I can’t be alive online at the night much either. Anyway, I’ll try to post at least once per two days from now on.

Now on to the random part, I got a lot of new music, which are: Bjork, Beck, Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers, The Cardigans, The Cranberries, Deftones, Groove Armada and Lenny Kravitz. Chemical Brothers and Beck are very cool stuff with their sound. I didn’t quite like Bjork, cause its electronic sound is totally weird! Lenny Kravitz and Deftones are great rock stuff and Groove Armada and Depeche Mode are normal electronic music, I didn’t find them so impressive.

In movies, I’ve seen ‘Zodiac‘ and two animated features ‘The Invincible Iron Man‘ and ‘Doctor Strange‘ in the last week. Along with that old ‘Bad Boys‘ movie (The first part) and ‘Oceans 13‘ and ‘Wild Hogs‘. I’ll blog about each of these along the week :)

Onto Academics, I always end up sleeping during my Data Structures class while the teacher takes those silly Stack, Queue and Linked List ADTs. The only part I try listening properly to is the applications of each. Seriously speaking, Data Structures is of no use to study unless you create the programs for each type of application or at least practice the basic programs. I don’t know how some people manage to pass it without knowing a damn what’s going on in it. OOP is easy but comes with a lot of cryptic definitions (Speaking in the exam’s POV)

Anyway, am now off to finish my records so I can go out later today. :(
